Flexible / Alternative seating has arrived!

Our new alternative seating arrangements!

We are trying a new strategy in ESI this year. Students are given options of where they would like to work in the classroom. Last year we had a stand up area where students could work without chairs, and they loved it! This year we have yoga mats and binders for kids who need to lay on their front to work, yoga balls for kids who need to move, stand up desk for kids who don't need a chair, a low table with choice of seating and benches for reading. So far students are working at all the spaces to see which they prefer. Research states that "alternative classroom seating may facilitate engagement and in-seat behavior and create opportunities to provide effective instruction." (Schilling, D.L. & Schwartz, I.S. )

Ask your child which they prefer?
