Great start to 2016 - 2017 school year so far!

We started our year with three new students to the program. The students have settled into our routine and we are already becoming a close community within our classroom. We have added more alternative seating in the classroom this year so students can have more of a choice of their 'best fit' for work space. In ELA we have started to complete journal entries and are looking at grammar rules. Students this week have explored the difference between nouns and verbs, and the difference between common and proper nouns. In math we are working on putting our interactive math journal together and completed some fun addition activities with answers to 20. In Science we have been working on our 'human body' unit. Students have started to explore our senses and we brainstormed ideas for each category. Social studies will begin this year with our 'how to be a peacemaker' unit. students will find answers to the questions "what does it take to be a peacemaker?" and "what does a peacemaker do in school?" We are also tied for first place in our 'top banana' competition in the gym. Ask your kids to explain!
